Bits and bobs, work again mostly!

The current mood of withabandon at www.imood.com

Bah. I feel bad.

They've done something new to our department to make it evil and make me not want to work there. Every other agent on the floor with the exception of the specialists who's job it is to help you with technical stuff on the computer or customers who demand to speak to a supervisor has access to a system that we call "ER", as in "Early Release". You sign your name to a book or put your name on the website in advance and if there is a low call volume, they'll tell you you don't have to come in or tell you you can go home before your shift is over (without pay of course). EVERY OTHER DEPARTMENT has access to this system, and yesterday, my Supervisor, Amy, came over to tell us that as of immediately, our department could no longer get them, so they've removed our abilities to apply for them.

Why would they not, instead of telling us that we can't have them at all, just stop giving them to us. They have been giving Ers to us like crazy for the last week... And they are hiring two more people in our department to bring us to full staffing... it doesn't make sense to me at all. Now I'm not a mathematical person, but doesn't it make sense, since they plan to give us the overflow (read: english) calls from the main floor, to ER us, who are being paid 10.75$+/hr, than to ER the people they're paying 8$ and 9$ / hour...?

Anyways, I will never understand it. No one really knew anything about it, it just came from an email from some guy in Tulsa that no one has ever heard of. :P

This is for my personal reference, because I'm sure no one wants to hear..

But we had this white colt born this year that absolutely hated people, no matter what. He's come around so he isn't too bad to handle but I've taken him under my wing as my project, yes I have. So last night, I put him in the crossties. He wasn't quite sure about this standing still and not moving around thing while I moved around him, but he was getting okay. He also wasn't sure about me touching him. I decided that my best plan of action in his case is to start patting him all over and go from there.

I did head, neck, back and partial stomach, as well as hip on both sides, and then tried for the legs. He wasn't sure about the legs either, as when I reached down to touch his right fore, he kinda lifted it and struck out, but not maliciously. When I went back to touch it again, he stood there, quiet. He also lifted his right hind when I did it there too, not as though to kick, just as though he wasn't sure what was going on and he didn't think he liked it. Then he stood quiet for me to do it again. All this time, I had a leadshank and was holding his head as well so he didn't flip in the crossties.

I'll get to his left side tonight, I am pretty sure. He also got a cut on his head a few days ago, and his forelock was stuck into it. Not too bad, but enough to bother me, so I set out to pull the forelock out of the gash, which had me patting his nose very gently, and slowly working my way up a litle at a time to his forehead where I flicked it out and everything was good to go again. I think he'll come along fine. I love his personality and his action, he's a great colt.

Anyhow, that is completely it. I'm sorry guys, I may just chronicle the work with Frost in here as it comes along, for my own personal reference, so when he is 3 and an amazing riding horse, I can go back and say "Aw, he didn't want me to touch him!"
